How to copy DVD to hard disk and playback?

Step 1: Copy your DVD to hard disk using Ideal DVD Copy

If there is enough disk space on your computer and you want to enjoy the entire DVD movie including menus, trailers and special features, please refer to Option A. If you want to save disk space and enjoy main movie only, please refer to Option B . If you want to copy more than one episodes from an episodic DVD or TV Show DVD, please refer to Option C .

Option A: Copy the entire disc

(1) Insert your DVD into your DVD drive.
(2) Choose "To hard disk..." from the destination dropdown list, then a window will pop up. Please select a folder to store the copied DVD.
(3) Choose "The entire disc" from the copy mode dropdown list.
(4) Click the button to start copying.

After finished, you will get a folder including all DVD files under the destination folder. For example, it's "D:\Movies\GLADIATOR" as the above illustration.

Option B: Copy the main movie only

(1) Insert your DVD into your DVD drive.
(2) Choose "To hard disk..." from the destination dropdown list, then a window will pop up. Please select a folder to store the copied DVD.
(3) Choose "Only the main movie" from the copy mode dropdown list and wait just a while, then a new window as shown below will pop up.

(4) Select the audios and subtitles that you want to keep and set a default audio and subtitle. And then click the "OK" button to return to the main window.
(5) Click the

button to start copying.

After finished, you will get a folder including all DVD files under the destination folder. For example, it's "D:\Movies\GLADIATOR" as the above illustration.

Option C: Copy selected episodes

How to copy episodic DVD or TV Shows

(1) Insert your DVD into your DVD drive.
(2) Choose "To hard disk..." from the destination dropdown list, then a window will pop up. Please select a folder to store the copied DVD.
(3) Choose "Selected episodes" from the copy mode dropdown list and wait just a while, then a new window as shown below will pop up.

(4) Select the episodes, audio tracks and subtitles that you want to keep. And then click the "OK" button to return to the main window.
(5) Click the

button to start copying.

After finished, you will get a folder including all DVD files under the destination folder. For example, it's "F:\IDEALDVDCOPY_TEMP\THROUGH_THE_FIRE" as the above illustration.

* Step 2: Playback the copied DVD from hard drive using your DVD player software

Usually you can open the "VIDEO_TS.IFO" file under the VIDEO_TS folder to play the copied DVD from hard drive. Or follow these guides as shown below.

PowerDVD

1. Launch PowerDVD.
2. Click "Select Source"

on the user interface and then select "Open DVD File on hard disk drive".
3. Select the VIDEO_TS folder of the copied DVD (For example, it's "D:\Movies\GLADIATOR\VIDEO_TS\" in the illustration above). And then click OK when you have done.

WinDVD

1. Launch WinDVD.
2. Right click on the play window and choose "Source" -> "DVD from folder".
3. Select the VIDEO_TS folder of the copied DVD (For example, it's "D:\Movies\GLADIATOR\VIDEO_TS\" in the illustration above). And then click OK when you have done.

Windows Media Player

1. Launch Windows Media Player.
2. Select Open from the File menu.
3. Choose "Any file (*.*)" from the Files of type drop-down list. And then select the "VIDEO_TS.IFO" file, in the VIDEO_TS folder of the copied DVD (For example, it's "D:\Movies\GLADIATOR\VIDEO_TS.IFO" in the illustration above). And then click OK when you have done.
