If you have two DVD drives, try cleaning it and copying it from the second DVD drive. If you still get the message after cleaning the disc and trying it in the second drive, please click "Yes" when our program asks if you want to continue with read errors or not. Doing this will skip some unreadable sectors when your DVD has been scratched slightly.

A: This is a burning issue. Please close any other applications, especially those which will access your DVD drive, then try the following guidelines to solve this issue:

(2) Use a slower burning speed. Please click   button, click on the BURNING tab in the pop up window, and then choose "2X" from the "Preferred burning speed" dropdown list. Click OK and re-burn your dvd, this time, it will use the new speed to burn.
(3) Try a different brand of blank DVD. Your DVD burner may not be compatible with your media. Q9: There was no error message, but the DVD copy will not play on my DVD player. What should I do?
A: This issue could be a burning issue or our program produced a failure copy. First, please check if the copied dvd can be played well on computer drive which you used to burn from. Then try the following steps to help us check this issue.
(1) Copy this dvd to your hard drive. You may choose "To harddisk..." from the "Destination" dropdown list to choose a folder on you hard drive to save the copied dvd.
(2) Playback the copied files to check if it can be played well. You may open the VIDEO_TS.ifo file under the VIDEO_TS folder to play it from hard drive.

If the copied files can be played well, then it's mostly a burning issue. Please refer to Q8 to solve this issue. Or just attach a copy of the log file of our program, then email to support@idealdvdcopy.com for help. Refer to Q0 to learn how to attach the log file.

Q10: Why did I get a message that says, "There isn't enough space, please set another temporary folder"?
A: The message means you do not have enough space on your hard drive. Our program copies the DVD to a temporary folder on your hard drive before burning. You need at least 4.7GB of space on that drive. You may click button to go to the configuration window, click on the MISC tab, then look at the "Temporary Folder" box to check where the temporary folder is located. You will need to delete files you no longer use or want in that folder manually to acquire more space to solve this issue. Make sure you check the option "Clean temporary directory when finished" on the configuration window, then the program will automatically clean the temporary files after burning.

Q11: What can I do if Ideal DVD Copy didn't show up?

Q13: How to properly clean a DVD for optimal readability?
Here are some tips on how to properly clean your DVD discs:
REMEMBER...before you try any of these methods, the disc media is very delicate and you may unintentionally damage the shiny, reflective surface if you are not careful!
When you attempt to clean your disc, always wipe the disc's surface in a non-circular, back-and-forth motion (from the center hole to the outer edge). Do NOT wipe the disc in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion when you clean OR dry the disc .

1. If you find dust particles sticking to the DVD surface, use a piece of soft cloth to wipe off the dust (an old t-shirt with NO printing or pictures on it works well). To properly hold the DVD, insert your finger or thumb into the center hole of the DVD and your fingers should grasp it by the outer edge of the disc. Never touch the shiny surface with your fingertips as your skin can retain oils or grease and you will only double the amount of work to clean the disc.

2. If the DVD surface appears to be sticky or greasy, mix some baby shampoo(ONLY baby shampoo...NO dish washing liquid, bar soap, laundry detergent, etc.) with water (preferably bottled water as regular tap water has a higher concentration of salts and chemicals such as fluoride, that may leave white marks on the DVD surface). Use cotton or a soft cloth to gently rub the DVD surface with this solution. Make sure the disc is completely dry (meaning NO water drops) using another clean, dry, soft cloth.

3. If there are fingerprint marks on the surface, take a soft cloth and pour a very small amount of Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol, available at your local drugstore or grocery store) on the cloth. You can pour a small amount in the cap and dip your cloth into that to use only a small amount. Gently wipe the surface of the disc, from the center hole to the outer edge. The alcohol dries very quickly and will not leave any residue on the disc surface. Take another clean, dry soft cloth and make sure the surface is completely dry. NEVER use any type of petroleum-based solvent, such as Acetone, because it will permanently damage the disc's surface.

By properly cleaning a disc, if needed, you will enhance the creation of an excellent copy every time!

Q14: I got blue screen after launching Ideal DVD Copy, how to do?
A: The issue is caused by our internal burning engine 1, especially on HP laptops. You may re-start your computer, insert a DVD video disc to your drive, then re-open Ideal DVD Copy, then it will launch properly. To avoid next blue screen issue, please switch to "internal burning engine 2". You may click to go to the configuration window, then click "BURNING" tab, choose "Internal Burning Engine 2" from the "Burning Engine" dropdown list.

Q15: Why Ideal DVD Copy can't see or recognize my external drive?
A: Since version 4.0, we use "Internal Burning enigne 2" as the default engine to avoid the crash issue while launching. But this engine isn't highly compatible with external drive, for some particular external drive, it even can't recognize it.
