Q. Can I put my own hose in this hose reel?
A. No, you cannot put your own hose into the reel nor replace the hose in the reel. The retraction mechanism operates via a spring, and is fitted at the factory.
Q. Which hose from your range comes in the hose reel?
A. This product uses a specifically designed hose for use in the retractable hose reel unit.
Q. Does the hose in the hose reel kink?
A. This hose has been specifically designed for use in an auto rewind hose reel unit and must be soft and pliable so that it retracts easily back into the unit. Although this hose is not designed for kink-resistance specifically, using a hose reel greatly reduces the chance of a kink occuring. This is due to only using the correct length of hose for the task at hand so there is no extra hose for a tangle or kink to occur. In addition, the retraction mechanism on the reel ensures that the hose is always reeled back in a straight line, so the hose does not get twisted (a common cause of kinks).
Q. My tap is 3m away from where I need to put the hose reel. What can I do?
A. You can add an additional length of hose to the leader hose in order to reach the water supply. To do this, you will need a suitable length of hose with Hoselink connectors on either end. If you have a suitable hose length for this purpose, we recommend purchasing a Hose Joiner Set (2410). Alternatively, we sell Leader Hose Extensions in 1.5m and 5m lengths pre-fitted with connectors, for your convenience.
Q. Does the hose reel have to be mounted?
A. Yes, because it uses tension for retraction and extension, the hose reel unit must be mounted for correct operation to a solid wall or post.

Q. If I would like to mount the reel onto a post, how deep should the post be into the ground?
A. The post depth required depends on a number of factors, including how hard packed the soil is and how much concrete is used. We suggest 0.5m as a safe depth for the post before pouring the concrete. In addition, we would recommend that the hole be 30cm square to provide enough concrete to keep the hose reel firmly in place. Hoselink's Retractable Mounting Post is the perfect solution.
Q. What is the difference between the standard and Hi-flow Hose Reels?
Our standard Hose Reels feature a 12mm garden hose, whereas the Hi-flow Reels come with a slightly larger 14mm internal diameter garden hose. Because of the design, all retractable hose reels will reduce water pressure to varying degrees. With the larger diameter hose in the Hi-flow model, we've calculated a 25% better water flow rate in comparison to our standard models. Unless you have extremely high water pressure, we would always recommend the Hi-flow model for the best watering experience. In particular, anyone who has low to medium water pressure at their home should choose the Hi-flow model to minimise loss of pressure.
Q. Can I use the Retractable Hose Reels with hot water?
A. No, they are not recommended for use with hot water. Maximum water temperature is 40 degrees.
Q. Can I leave the tap turned on at all times?
A. We would recommend turning the water off at the tap at the end of each watering session. The increased pressure from the water may cause unnecessary wear to the internal mechanism of the hose reel, potentially shortening the life of the product.
Q: On what surface can a Hose reel be installed?
A: The Hose Reel can be mounted in a few different ways. These include Wall Mounted on timber/brick and weatherboard walls where reliable, flat and secure mounting is available. A Fixed Ground Mount solution is available on Timber/Brick/Concrete. The Hose Reel can also be mounted on a Mounting Post into soil or grass.

Q: Is there an option to take away my old Hose reel after the new one has been installed?
A: Absolutely. We can take away and dispose of your old Hose reel for $35.
Q: Can you install a Hose reel if no one is home?
A: This is possible, but you need to discuss this with the installer once they make contact to book the installation.
Q: How much does it cost for the installation of my Hose reel/reels
A: The cost for a standard wall installation into Timber/Brick is $120, with discounts starting from 20% for any subsequent installations in the same job. Please refer to the Bulk Pricing table below.
The cost of the mounting post into soil/grass is $200; this includes the concrete for the installation and the extra time required on-site by the installer. No discount is available for multiple installs.
AustraliaWorks well and eliminates the annoying tangling and kinking of ordinary hoses. I did have a concern with the weight of the unit and 30m hose and if the supplied screws/inserts would be able to sustain the weight over time. I am using dynabolts to secure the bracket to the wall.

Australia AustraliaI dug a hole, cut the timber post and fitted the mounting bracket in my workshop and then dropped it into the hole with some rapid set. Level both ways-perfecto! Mounted the reel about an hour later and watered the garden. All up, it took about 2 hours at a leisurely pace.

The 20m hose reel purchased march 2024 not quite as good because the hose tends to tangle and twist and the grey colour on the reel and spray attachment scuffs easily (softer material?)

AustraliaI purchased the Hoselink in charcoal with lots of options and got it installed (wall-mounted) by Hoselink. It was absolutely fantastic until the hose stopped retracting after a few weeks of light use. I reached out to Hoselink Support but when I read words like "return" rather than "service visit", well, I couldn't handle it in a practical sense. It was a costly solution for me but I bought a replacement Hoselink unit and if all goes well, I hope to become a satisfied customer. I'll need another unit for my front yard when my new fence goes up.

AustraliaThe reel is great the hardware that comes with it to mount to brick is incorrect 12mm plugs for brick but use a 6mm bolt thats incorrect and they strip out had to get 12mm ramset plugs and 9.5mm coach bolts to suit now its secured properly. Also my first reel was missing every part except the reel and mount

By now you will have found out the cause of the very bad odour when the hose is first turned on and until water has cleared from remaking coil in the retractor. The replacement hi flow hose and the one I purchased in December do not suffer the same fate. Two other smaller diameter hoses I know of in this village both have the same bad odours when first turned on. Many thanks for your kind and prompt assistance in this matter. AustraliaThis is a large unit and needs a bit of swing room. The spring is powerful and needs some strength to pull out the hose - consider this if you are elderly or frail. It requires an adaptor ($10) to fit your existing sprinklers etc. Buy one with the unit for free postage. A top of the line unit with great connectors and the best spray gun around, I will buy a sprinkler and spray wand in the future and expect them to be of a high standard too.
